Fully Circular: VanDerEng's 'Send Them Back' Initiative
Within the events sector, there is increasing attention for sustainability. But not only the visitors and organizers are more concerned with this. The suppliers of various products cannot avoid organizing their business operations accordingly. Sustainability and circular production have been central to VanDerEng for years. As a manufacturer of plastic festival coins and wristbands we take our responsibility in the careful management of raw materials and residual flows. In line with this vision, VanDerEng has developed an innovative return process: Send Them Back.
From Residual Flow to New Festival Coins
Within our production processes we collect and process plastic waste efficiently. The residual material is ground and reused as raw material for the production of consumption and break coins using injection moulding technology. With this we produce millions of coins annually, which results in a significant reduction of waste and a lower need for virgin plastic. VanDerEng uses a Zero Waste principle!
One Step Further: Send Them Back
To further optimize our circular approach, we are introducing the Send Them Back-concept. This initiative encourages customers to to return used consumption coins to VanDerEng. This allows us to reuse the coins, produce fully circular and minimize waste. This not only offers environmental benefits, but also helps organizations achieve their sustainability goals, which are increasingly required by municipalities.
Free and Rewarding
Returning the coins is completely free of charge for our customers. In fact, VanDerEng rewards customers who participate in the Send Them Back program. In this way, we make sustainable choices not only accessible, but also attractive.
A Sustainable Commitment
Jeroen Horbach, Commercial Director at VanDerEng, explains: “From conversations with our customers, it became clear that coins are often only used once and then thrown away. We think this is a waste, both economically and ecologically. That is why we developed the Send Them Back concept. Although it requires additional logistical and operational efforts, it is more than worth the investment. Sustainable innovation is in VanDerEng's DNA, and this initiative is an excellent example of that.”
Of Send Them Back we are taking an important step towards a fully circular production process. We invite our customers to contribute to a more sustainable future together with us.
